Power Plant Water Treatment
Water management is a high priority for power plant owners. Many factors can make it a particular concern, such as stricter environmental restrictions on wastewater discharge, regional water shortages, and the public perception of power plants. Water treatment for thermal power plants is conducted to prevent problems such as carryover to the turbine components and corrosion and scale formation/deposition in the boiler and turbine systems.
In recent years, with an increased focus on water treatment methods for aging plants, higher operational efficiency, and better environmental conservation, we are developing a package of new products and technologies that address the problems. water quality for boilers and turbines of thermal power plants is regularly amended based on operational results, technological innovation, equipment nonconformities, etc., to which we have also contributed have contributed.
Implementing the right technology and design criteria can help solve these issues.
Power generation is one of the largest industrial water users, with the majority of water used for cooling purposes on site. Along with cooling water, boilers and flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) or wet scrubbing systems also contribute to total water use. Due to the large volume of water required, it is common for power plants to be located next to natural water sources, such as rivers, where they can draw water into the plant for use.
Abrah Co has experience helping clients reach a range of water treatment goals, including:
- Treatment of water for use or reuse on site (e.g. cooling water or boiler water)
- Cooling tower blowdown and boiler blowdown for reuse/recycling
- Water treatment to comply with environmental discharge regulations
- Selective removal/recovery of many contaminants
- Evaporation solutions for brine management that can run using waste heat to reduce costs

Water and Wastewater Solutions for the Power Industry
Our microfiltration (MF), ultrafiltration (UF) and reverse osmosis (RO) technology provide comprehensive solutions for tough-to-treat power generation waters. Abrah Co assists power plants in improving overall reliability and ensuring clean, available, and profitable power.
Cooling Tower Make-Up Water
ARDM'S microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) membrane systems provide consistent high-quality water. Whether water is needed for plant make-up, or as feed to reverse osmosis (RO) systems, Abrah Co offers a wide range of influent water sources and water quality.
Cooling Tower Blowdown
The treated water from Cooling Tower Blowdown (CTBD) can be recycled as cooling tower make-up water, reused as boiler feed, discharged, or used as waste stream reduction for Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD). CTBD offers plants the best opportunity to turn efficiency into savings.
Boiler Feed Water
Filtration is critical to the success of your water treatment system in meeting purity goals, and traditional filtration methods such as sand and granular mixed media are often inefficient, labor intensive, and costly. Pall Water's membrane-based solutions offer a proven solution for your industrial water treatment needs.
We have solutions for filtration and separation, cooling tower make-up water / cooling tower blowdown, boiler feed water, high-quality manufacturing, and more.
